Use this 10-point checklist to know when your tank needs cleaning right now.

1. Visible Sludge or Sediment Build-Up

If you notice sludge, debris, rust flakes, or thick sediment during inspection, the tank is overdue for a professional cleaning.

2. Drop in Product Quality

Off-spec products, odd odors, discoloration, or contamination complaints can point to residue buildup inside the tank.

3. Reduced Pumping Efficiency

When pumps struggle, clog frequently, or run harder than normal, it’s often due to internal buildup restricting flow.

4. Abnormal Reading on Gauges & Sensors

Erratic level readings, pressure fluctuations, or inconsistent temperature data may indicate tank fouling or residue coating sensors.

5. Water Accumulation

Water is a major contaminant—especially for fuels and chemicals. Presence of water layers, condensation, or microbial growth (e.g., biofilm) signals immediate cleaning.
