A strength test using water is generally required on any new pressurized system to prove its physical integrity. In some cases, systems that are incapable of supporting their own weight in water are strength tested using air.
Following mechanical completion, some customers require an additional leak test of critical systems to ensure that no product leakage can occur on startup. This is normally provided as part of an overall, integrated asset assurance package with the testing being used as the final proof of system integrity to the customer.
